What We Believe
God
We believe that God is a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion, and sin. We believe that God is one. One who eternally exists as three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three have the same nature, attributes, and perfections. They are worthy of all worship, confidence, and obedience. (Exodus 34:6-7, Deut. 6:4, Mark 12:29; John 1:1-4; Mat. 28:19,20; Acts 5:3,4; 2 Cor. 13:14; Heb. 1:1-3; Rev. 1:4-6)
Jesus
We believe in the full deity and full humanity of Jesus Christ. His virgin Birth; His sinless humanity; His miracles; His perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people through the shedding of His blood and death on the cross; His bodily resurrection; His ascension to the right hand of the Father; and His personal return in power and glory. We believe that he lived, died, and rose again for us. We believe that His resurrection is a historical event. We believe that this is good news to all. (Matthew 1:18-25; John 1, 8:40,58, 11:33; Acts 1:9-11; Romans 5:8-10; Colossians 1:15-17; Hebrews 1:8)
Holy Spirit
We believe in the Holy Spirit as a Divine Person, not as an influence or force. He believes that His coming to all believers was promised by the Father, through His prophets, and that promise was fulfilled at Pentecost. On that day He unified all believers into one body, the Church. The Church are those whose indwelling of the Spirit is the source and power of all acceptable worship and service. He is our abiding Comforter and Helper, and is ever present to testify of Christ. (Isaiah 44:3; Ezekiel 36:26-27, 37; Joel 2:28-29; John 7:38-39; 14:16-17; 15:26; 16:13-14; Acts 1:8, 2; Rom. 8:9; Phil. 3:3)
The Church
We believe the Church is the body and bride of Christ. The Church is how Jesus, through His Spirit, works in the world to this day. We are a family united by the Holy Spirit and thus being members one of another we are responsible in good conscience to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace, loving one another with a pure heart. We believe we hold all things in common, that is that Jesus Christ is king. He is the Head over all the church and commanded His people to hold to the practice of water baptism, as well as the regular taking of Communion. We do not believe that either of these practices is essential for salvation, but that they serve as a demonstration of our living faith in Him. (1 Corinthians 12:12; Ephesians 1:22-23, 5:22-33; Colossians 1:18; Revelation 5:25-27, 19:7-9)
The Bible
We believe that Scripture, the Bible, is “God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.” The Bible is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God. (2 Tim. 3:16-17; 2 Pet. 1:21; 1 Cor. 2:13; Mark 12:26,36; 13:11; Acts 1:16; 2:4)
