Tomorrow is Pentecost

Tomorrow is Pentecost

This post is from Lee, our pastor:

Tomorrow is Pentecost….

When we took over what would become Kingdom of Hope almost two years ago, I found this book in the study. It’s one of only a few things I kept. When I first saw it, I almost got rid of it because it looked so cheesy and dated. I only kept it because of the author. AW Tozer has been cited by so many theologians and pastors that I respect, so I kept it.

It’s a collection of his sermons about the Holy Spirit and how the church in the West has all but forgotten this member of the Godhead. I finally read it a few months ago and it has changed my faith walk. He is absolutely correct.

Pentecost should be as celebrated in the Christian faith as Christmas and Easter. It’s the day God fulfilled His promise to pour out His spirit onto those who believe in Him. Christ died so that this could happen. (John 16:7) It was the beginning of the church. Not only is this holiday largely ignored in the church but the Spirit himself is as well.

Too many churches in America are ran by committee rather than the Spirit. Decisions are made as a matter of business rather than by the Spirit’s guidance. They do not seek seek Him or walk by Him. That’s one of many reasons why the church is in the state that it is in.

Tomorrow is Pentecost.
